Burgers, originally a fast food but so versatile they now make a regular appearance on the menus of gourmet restaurants, and they even have vegan versions much to the dismay of burger traditionalists.

We will look into, in no particular order, our Top 10 burgers you have to try before you die, irrespective of the costs involved.

1 – McDonald’s Big Mac

What kin of burger list would this be without what is probably the most famous burger on the planet. The Big Mac is synonymous with McDonalds and is even used as a financial benchmark (Big Mac Index) to measure purchasing power between nations.

Back to the burger— it consists of two beef patties in between a sesame seed bun, “special sauce”, lettuce, cheese, pickles and onions.

This burger even has a museum dedicated to it in Pennsylvania, USA.

2 – In-N-Out Animal Style

This is considered a “secret” style burger on a not-so-secret menu. In-N-Out are known for using the freshest produce; so much so that their restaurants don’t have any freezers. The fries are sliced and cooked to order, but it really is their burgers that take the limelight.

The Animal Style is actually available on fries too, but in this case the burger includes extra Thousand Island spread, mustard grilled patties with extra pickles.

In-N-Out’s dedication to fresh food has meant that they are only currently available around the West coast of the United States, so if you ever find yourself in these areas, be sure to look out for it!

3 – Patty and Bun Ari Gold

Representing the UK, not somewhere famous for its burgers, Patty and Bun constantly receives top reviews, and for good reason.

Their burgers are made from 35-day-aged Aberdeen Angus beef, and come cooked medium-rare by default unless otherwise requested. Sandwiched in between a brioche bun, this burger no matter how it is order, will not fail to disappoint. The Ari Gold is the signature burger topped with Smokey P&B mayo.

4 – Burger King Whopper

Another world famous burger, the whopper is Burger King’s signature product, described by the company itself as “The Burger that made BK famous”. This flame-grilled patty is topped with tomatoes, lettuce, mayonnaise, pickles, and onions and placed in between a sesame seed bun. Simple but delicious.

5 – MOS Burger

This burger is so well known in Japan, and will no doubt become better known around the world in the future. It is a simple burger, with a freshly grilled patty, hot meat sauce on top and with a chilled slice on tomato on top of that. It goes to show that not much more is needed to make a quality burger than good, fresh ingredients.

6 – The Heart Attack Grill Quadruple Bypass Burger

This one is not for the faint hearted (excuse the pun). This burger is notorious thanks to its four half pound patties with eight slices of cheese, combining to make it almost 10,000 calories! Tasty but consume at your own risk. A regular customer actually died in front of the establishment in 2013.

7 – Honest Burgers The Honest Burger

So good it made a critic exclaim, “Holy cow, that’s a good burger”. While many burger joints focus on the quality of meat, many cannot come close to this burger as an end product. They are only made better when pair with their delightful rosemary-salted fries.

8 – Blacows’ The Big Blacows

You can watch the in-house butcher prepares the patties in front of your very eyes. This restaurant only uses Japanese Black Wagyu, which speaks for itself. This burger has two patties, Colby Jack cheese, lettuce, tomato, avocado, bacon, fried egg and grilled onion. What’s not there to like?

9 – Shake Shack’s Classic Shack Burger

Made from 100% natural Angus beef, these delicious burgers are made not just with great meat, but also with quality toppings. The burgers are cooked medium unless requested and topped with the mouth-watering ShackSauce. With outlets in the US and UK amongst others, get yourself down to your nearest location to see what all the fuss is about!

10 – Five Guys

Last, but definitely not least on the list, is the bacon cheeseburger from another restaurant from the home of the burger. With the option to choose up to 15 free toppings, these wonderful burgers are sure to please any burger taste.
