Losing fat is about energy expenditure. You eat less than you need and you lose weight. Simple. But, it’s more complicated than this. We need to recognise the role of hormones like cortisol, insulin, testosterone and leptin in fat loss. Ghrelin, also known as the “hunger hormone” is important for fat loss because it regulates appetite. More ghrelin = more hunger, so how do you decrease it? The short answer is to eat more protein, get enough sleep and a good quality sleep. Another thing I didn’t mention is to increase muscle mass.
