Dr. Berg talks about burning calories in general versus burning fat calories. When you exercise, you mainly tap out your glycogen reserve. To burn fat calories you must keep your dietary carbohydrates or glucose real low. The big mistake with workouts is eating fruit, Gatorade, juice during the workout. If you exercise in the absence of glucose, you will trigger hormones that benefit you 24-48 hour later.

  1. That just doesn't make sense to me. What kind of calories are you burning when you're not in ketosis?
And actually I'd like to see the person that weighs the same before and after three hours of sport. And especially there is no connection to what kind of diet you are on.
    It is about sweating…

  2. Can you burn glycogen and fat? How do some people cut calories and lose weight overtime while it doesn't work for others? Does it have to do with insulin sensitivity?

  3. pls help me. how is the keto diet done for the entire life ??? eating mostly fats, and low carbs. i tried keto and it worked for me i went from 36 waist to 34 waist but i couldnt take it for too long and had a chocolate bar breaking all my efforts

  4. why is it that sometimes when i break deficit and go into surplus i wake up w.a smaller belly and other times a larger belly? and when under a deficit i either remain stagnant or w.a smaller belly?? makes no sense

  5. If you eat anything with fruit sugar(fructose) on a daily basis you'll become leptin resistant which means you wont burn fat. No matter how much you exercise. You'll burn all your consumed calories and then burn all your muscle before you'll burn fat.

  6. thisz bullshit. just keep doing ample exercise and eat just right. its what worked for me..doing intermittent fasting gives you a reason to binge eat daily. calories in calories out is what works…saying otherwise just makes you seem more ignorant with your alternate medicine ideologies. Why would you want to complicate things and bring up un natural things like keto and intermittent fasting. we are not cavemen anymore..IF might have other benefits but it just makes you overeat..thats what happened to me

  7. I know I left a message already, but you really need to go into more depth as this is a real contradiction. It is factually wrong! I am sorry to look like a hater, but this video is completely untrue and you have so many viewers believing this. You are pushing less than the 20-40g carbs coz of the keto.. but u can have a diet based on 60% carbs, 20 fat and 20 protein and still lose weight fact! most vegans live on a high carb diet. Tsimane tribes live on a high carb diet and studies show that they have the healthiest arteries and they are very healthy and mostly aren't fat! Natural bodybuilders rarely go below 150gr of carbs when cutting, so this video honestly is total bogus. It's completely untrue.

  8. Dr.Berg, thank you for all of your infermation! I am 62, intermittent fasting at 20/4. I eat a meal during my eat window however that one meal fills me and I dont need another- is that ok? I feel great!

  9. ok doc, but how much coloris should i eat when i i'm on keto diet, 140 g protein and 30 carb, but how much fats?
i'm 185 cm and 80 kg, and i need to lose weight.

  10. but when I work out and come home I get to see a difference of 700 to 900 grams
but next day when I go to work out I see that I have lost 100 to 300 grams of weight permanently and I lose another 700 to 900 grams of temporary weight loss
    then what about my case
