Dr. Berg talks about losing inches, but no weight loss. This occurs when the person is gaining muscle, which weighs more – this is due to a spike of Growth Hormone. GH preserves muscle and even increases muscle mass. The best indicator is if its working is to measure waist circumference. The body will tend to lose the midsection first and focus more on belly fat loss more than weight loss to know if its working.

  1. Do you have a video on KETO and Weightloss when you have around 100 pounds to lose? Is it possible to drop larger amounts of weight per week because there's so much weight to lose? Or do people who have a lot of weight to lose still lose at the same rate as people who have about 15-20 ponds to lose? Thanks!! Love your videos!

  2. I lost 11 pounds in almost 2 weeks without excercise… I was 145+ kg and now 140 this must be water weight and some fat. I am 26 so young and endomorph body type. Being doing fasting for almost 2 weeks now 16/8, but I feel 10 times better the weight will come along but my body feels ten times better. So seeing the scale drop is a nice motivation but there are other factors which are important, sleeping, health, feeling etc.

  3. i don't know what the fuss is all about, for the first 2 weeks of my dieting and exercising i lose 10 kgs in the first week and 9 kgs in the second week and it slowed down to 4 kgs per week on a normal diet nothing too fancy

  5. Same happened to me. Lost 11 lbs in 2 weeks but weight loss just stopped even with 20 hour intermittent fasting. Good news is loss in 2 inches of waist.

  6. We need to get away from the whole concept of a "diet." The term "diet" for many people suggests a TEMPORARY eating program that they do to shed some pounds. Once they reach their goal, some people expect to resume eating like they did before. NO! You must expect to make a permanent change in what and how much you're eating. If you go back to eating as you did before, you'll "find" all the weight you "lost" before. There was a real reason a person is overweight.

    Get a scale with a body fat percentage estimator. Even if you do not show weight loss, track your body fat percentage too. Or how your clothes fit.

What I think happens is you start losing weight everywhere so you're not seeing it where you want it to disappear so if your face is a little chubby your face will start thinning up first if you got a side tire that will start thinning up all the stuff thins up before my belly that's how I know it's working I think once most of your body has got to where it should be you'll start seeing your belly start disappearing because when you're losing fat everywhere it's hard to notice as opposed to before you were just losing weight in your stomach any sense to that?

  9. Thanks for your videos, getting frustrated with the scale. Been doing keto now for about a month and lost almost ten pounds but the scale fluctuates like 2 pounds up then 2 pounds down. Thougjt i was doing something wrong but you explained it beautifully

  10. 18 months ago i was 456lbs- but over those 18months have lost 132 lbs- which averages out to 1.8lb per week- and this last month the scales haven't moved but i have lost another inch off my waist- i have cut right down on my carb intake over those months, but stopped eating any type of bread from day one- no fizzy drinks no fruit juice etc-just real foods when possible-i still have a way (weigh) to go but your videos are excellent Dr.B.
