Dr. Berg talks about the difference between
Not losing weight versus
Slow weight loss.

If you have a stubborn metabolism or belly fat and you are losing weight but its just too slow, the tips you would do are different than if you are not losing weight at all. No weight loss equals serious problem deeper and we need testing for this, maybe the thyroid, adrenal, kidney or some other deep problem.

If you dieted for years and destroyed your metabolism, then it will be slow. We need to look at the quality and quantity of your calories of proteins, fats and carbs.

-you need a huge change
-check thyroid, adrenal or kidney
-strengthen your successful actions. Look at the quality of food for protein, fats and carbs. Then look at the quantity of fats, protein or carbohydrates.
Then look at the frequency of meals. We need to bring it down to 3 or 2 or even 1 meal per day for some people. Six meals a day would spike insulin.
-then we check the sleep (sleep apnea, hot flashes or the cycle – too much estrogen), digestion (constipation, ulcers or GERD) or inflammation.
-instead of taking a pill for weight loss, support the deeper reason like insulin.

  1. You mentioned putting kids on a diet not being a good idea or can cause problems later in life what do you mean by putting kids on a diet a healthy diet or limiting what exactly sugar carbs fruit?

  2. @Dr.EricBergDC I started intermittent dieting since mid Jan of 2018. Doing 2 meals a day 5/19. By the end of Jan since I drastically changed my diet by cutting out breads, rice and noodles and eating lots more greens and other veggies I have lost 13-15lbs. But I’ve had problems with my bowel schedule. I’m no longer regular. I used to not be able to go for 2-3 days and I have also gone without going for an entire week. I started taking a Korean bowel movement pill which only gave me diarrhea for an entire week. So I just stopped taking it this week. No more diarrhea but I haven’t gone yet either. My weight has been stuck for the past 3 weeks. When I started my diet I was loosing at least 3 lbs a week. Now i loose 1lb but gain it back the next day. I’ll pick up a probiotics this weekend. I really hope this helps me go back on a regular schedule. I feel it is what’s holding back my weight loss.

  3. What probiotic would you suggest, I’m finding that I need to start talking one bc I have diverticulitis flare ups

  4. Hey Dr. Ever since I start this diet I kept getting flu every two weeks and became really weak. I don't know what i do wrong but my immunity became sooooo weak. What should I do?

  5. Hi, Dr.berg. I test strips in keto everyday and basically two to three meals everyday for 32 days. For first two weeks, I drank tea with coconut oil and cook food with coconut oil. I saw your videos about keto rash and decided to slow down consumption of fat. Although, I decreased eating coconut oil, I am still near 8 mmol on the strips. But I haven't lost any weight. Also, I have keto rash for 2 to 3 weeks and acne not healed on my cheeks. I am frustrated. I am planning to use gallbladder supplements and do some meditation or exercise. Probably also try to decrease meals. Can you provide some suggestions?

  6. @DrBerg I'm dieting and working out. Why am I noticeably losing weight in my boobs but not my belly? My belly after 3c sections and weight gain, weight loss, weight gain, now I'm trying to eat clean and work out….but I'm losing my tits pretty fast, too fast for my ugly tummy

  7. Dr Berg I am doing one meal a day for three days a week. But when I do that at the time of breaking my fast with that one meal. I get bad diarrhea. What am I doing wrong?

  8. I lost 5 pounds the first week then gained a couple back then stayed there. Its been 3 weeks. And ive been eating appropriately and even started omad the second week and drinking acv

  9. Thank you, Dr. Berg. I consider myself to be as slow as molasses, so now I'll take a look at my good pts. and increase on them.

  10. I have a question, which you may have addressed already but I haven't come across the answer yet… if you are eating two or one meals a day, you are inevitably reducing the amount of calories consumed per day, thus causing a caloric deficit. You should lose weight and that's a good thing but won't this also actually slow down your metabolism in the long run?

  11. I have always been told that if you don’t eat your 3 meals your metabolism will slowdown even more. I am confused!

  12. In February I started at 248 pounds and today I am 224…. Everyone else seems to drop weight so quickly except me. I'm not super strict Keto because I eat peanut butter and I use Sucralose in my coffee. I do IF most days and only had one cheat meal on my birthday. I'm 41 and have been overweight since 1st grade and have yo-yo dieted most of my life with calorie restriction.
