  • Annie on 07/29 Sez: Riffos is a fantastic, neighbourhood friendly, cafe with great food and service. I would definitely recommend it, dogs and all.
  • Mark on 07/27 Sez: How pathetic that because Pat doesn't like dogs in a Cafe and complains about it she is a "fucking moron", according to Stu. Stu being so personally abusive is moronic.
  • Stu on 03/20 Sez: I have never been, I just wanted to say that Pat is wrong. Sorry Pat, but you should re-evaluate your priorities. I seriously doubt that a dog sitting on the floor near you would have been a credible threat to your health. I understand the law is to protect the people (you and your friends), however laws in these situations are a blanket approach to solve a small problem. Laws (like the one you cited) are designed to protect people for more serious threats, not a dog on the floor near your table. I seriously think that if your line of thinking was taken seriously, then Western Australia would become a nanny state. Perhaps you should search for an article I recently watched on the ABC against banning dogs from alfresco areas in Perth, they discuss the nanny state concept in more detail. I understand I wasn't a witness to what you describe, and my opinion on the matter is open to criticism. TLDR: Pat is a fucking moron.
  • Pete on 06/28 Sez: Loved it. Cosmopolitan spot with a wonderful range of customers. Internet reception etc spot on. There was a dog on the verandah but he/she was better behaved than the small child and just as clean. I did notice that when a pigeon dared enter the premises, one of the staff asked the local constable to arrest it and remove it from said premises. The pigeon got the message and left in high dudgeon, beak in the air and seeking counselling for its newly acquired generalised anxiety due to unnecessary rejection. sigh. The food was good a fairly priced. The staff were all terrific and super helpful. Loved it and will go back and recommend.
  • Kip on 06/04 Sez: What a great place. Its the life of Maylands. I'm not a pet lover, but I have no problems with pets being allowed...but I'd say Pats exagerated experience was a one off. I love the coffee and the breakfasts there.
  • Pat on 04/26 Sez: I was not impressed with the blatant lack of respect for health regulations during a visit in mid 2008. Patrons (obviously regulars) waltzed in with their pet dog together with a nice warm lamb rug to make the dog more comfortable on the floor at their feet. We were sitting in a closed alfesco area, however, these "outdoor" areas are under the same rules with regards to a definite NO DOG POLICY, exceptions for vision impaired patrons. I had to stare at the bloody dog licking its bits whilst I ate...vulgar. My friend fell off her chair when she turned around, then quietly spoke with a manager who indicated that they were a "pet friendly venue"...DISGUSTING. We were politely re seated but I'd never go back. I brought this to the Health Dept's attention the following day, hopefully it has been resolved. What ppl do in their own houses, eg cooking with animals in the kitchen etc, that's their business.....but come on, in a restaurant, what were they thinking???? (Blame is on the restaurant owners, not the patrons).
