Nomad Cafe is the East Bay's hip, new, community-based, earth-friendly arts and internet café.

Many evenings (and a few afternoons) bring live music, poetry, storytelling and open mic performances to the Nomad stage. Come see local artists' work on display, or watch them in action painting the "community canvas" that occupies the stage wall. Our "Kids' Corner" is a favorite among parents seeking a coffee break while their children build Lego towers or read picture books, lounging on colorful pillows and a soft, hand-woven rug (nomadic Gabbeh, naturally). The Nomad features indoor and outdoor seating. Premises are wheelchair-accessible. We serve 100% certified Fair Trade organic coffees and organic teas in a warm, friendly and comfortable environment. We also offer freshly-grilled sandwiches and other delicacies from both sides of the Mediterranean, delicious pastries baked fresh daily, and locally-produced vegan cookies. We support local shelters and food charities with our remaindered foods. We are vocal supporters of sustainable farming. Our commitment to Fair Trade provides sustainable living wages for farmers, and helps foster the creation of a healthier planet. At Nomad Café we feel very strongly about the environment. We believe that as residents of a global community, we have an obligation to responsible stewardship. We are an officially certified "Green" business through the County of Alameda's Green Business program. We have implemented measures to conserve energy, water, and materials and to cut pollution. We use safe, biodegradable cleaning products that are mixed using an enclosed system which protects employees from spills and splashes and cuts the chances of a spill to the City's storm drain system. We engage in active recycling. 95% of the waste produced at the café is compostable, and is recycled through a local food waste recycling program, or directly to our customers. Our building is an all-new construction that makes use of the latest energy-efficient and earth-friendly technology, including low-volume, on-demand tankless hot water heaters, hydronic heating systems, and recycled hardwoods. We feature high-speed internet access using state-of-the-art 802.11g wireless technology.
