  • Tim on 10/26 Sez: New owner! This place is great and they seem to like kids. Maybe you should try again.....
  • Kristina on 05/18 Sez: I went to Blue Max today, because frankly, there aren't a lot of good coffee/breakfast options around the area. I have never had any beef with their food or servers, but the owner has ZERO customer service skills. Everytime I have come to the restaurant, I have been made to leave (my children are too noisy for the computer user next to us, too much time eating, etc). Today was the last. The owner called me inconsiderate because I spent too much time eating a scone and coffee, and other people were waiting, couldn't I see? I was still eating, and was made to leave before I could finish my meal? What is this... I can't spend a peaceful time eating and talking, but rather should eat like a pig, maybe from a trough next time, and hurry out the door? It is too bad - I like their food, but when an owner doesn't respect their customers and calls them names, it is time to go.
  • FP Resident on 08/26 Sez: Blue Max is a great locally-owned hangout; its menu is fresh and it is creating a welcoming community of customers. However, I will attest it does not have the most outstanding service any time of the day. I generally give Blue Max my business solely because it isn't Starbucks, and there is Wifi, which allows me to work and eat. With the staff as it is, I try to make my order simple and sit in a corner till I'm done. Avoid the breakfast rush if service is an essential part of your dining out. While Elizabeth's (see previous comments)cashier was out of line (though not out of character), I must add that it is not proper etiquette to bring products of other chains into other companies. She has stumbled, blindly apparently, into the corporate versus local coffee shop struggle. There is no excuse for a cashier to address a customer over this, but curt treatment should have come as no surprise with that particular brand of coffee in her hand.
  • elizabeth austin on 08/25 Sez: I just got my knuckles rapped pretty rudely, too. We're regular customers, and we enjoy the food and the ambiance, despite fairly slow service. So this morning, my husband picked me up from dance class, handed me a much-needed cup of coffee (he's a saint)and offered to take me to Blue Max for lunch. Coffee in hand (I was having a caffeine emergency) I patiently stood in line for about 20 minutes, and even let a couple of people who were just getting coffee go in front of me. When I got to the front of the line, we ordered our lunch. I was about to order a cup of Blue Max offee, when the person at the cash register started berating me about what an insult it was to bring a cup of Starbucks coffee into their premises. I wasn't trying to make a statement. I happened to have a cup of coffee in my hand when I got there, and I committed the cardinal sin of drinking it while I was standing patiently in line. I wasn't planning to flaunt it at my table. I just didn't see that it was necessary to crouch in the bushes outside to finish my coffee before I got in line. When I tried to explain that I intended no insult, and just wanted to buy lunch, she blew me off rudely. The Blue Max website says they are are "devoted to a higher standard of customer service." Perhaps they need to realize that doesn't include giving their regular customers public scoldings.
  • LG on 06/10 Sez: My family and I were frequest customers of the cafe until today. The food was pretty good but I agree with the first reviewers opinion that the staff can be rude. We were "repremanded" by the owner since we made a mistake of saying we were sitting in instead of taking the order to go. She was a little too abrasive in her "repremand" and we both felt like one of her berated employees. It was all the more hurtful since we "were" frequent customers. But no more after today. I know it will not make any noticible dent to their business but we will be spending our dollars at another business that appreciates all of their customers. I can tolerate a lot, but rude treatment to customers is not accepable.
  • Greg on 04/26 Sez: Nice- cozy Check it out
  • JR on 04/25 Sez: I must agree....I stopped in here from the burbs with my wife...we both loved it. We like checking out different cafe's, and felt very welcome without people feeling pushy. Warmer feeling than a Starbucks!
  • Espresso Enthusiast on 04/22 Sez: Wow - really stumped by the other reviewer. My friends and I go daily for our mochas, lattes, and muffins. I know the owner personally, and since I live in the area have watched them grow and become a part of the community. If you want a local coffee shop feel, with great tasting coffee, you should check this place out. never been disappointed in the last year and half I've been going there.
