Park Grounds is a coffee shop with an off leash dog park. They serve the full gamut of coffee and tea beverages but instead of the typical coffee shop muffins and sandwiches they have an elaborate cold cereal bar and homemade cupcakes and cookies. We do not allow "aggresive breeds" no matter the temperment.

  • jif on 01/30 Sez: they've got a great coffee shop going there; their lattes are probably the best you'll find in atlanta (and i say this coming from another city with some of the best coffee anywhere). at first i thought their pit-bull stance was ignorant, but after reading their thoughts and provided links, it made sense. in no way are they saying your pit or pit-mix is aggressive; the issue is that pits and pit-mixes were bred to win and if confronted and provoked into fighting, they WILL win the fight. it happens...the sweetest pits are still THE BEST fighters and anyone who argues with that is setting their hound up for a disaster and is being irresponsible. plus, with the bad rap that pits already have, the last thing they need is another story on the news when they weren't looking for a fight, yet fought back. this coffee shop is fantastic; just use your head and mind your ps and qs if you take your dog.
  • Jase on 11/04 Sez: This coffee house converted from an ancient Gulf gas station stands on a strangely shaped plot off of Flat Shoals. The conversion is excellent, and is every bit the atmosphere it promises from the outside. It's a wonderful space, I just wish the quality of the coffee and the prices were better (the last time I went they charged for whipped cream on my mocha--- business can't be doing to well with this kind of nickle and diming.) Most of the staff is cordial, which adds to the ambiance. All in all, this place has enormous potential and I hope they can start selling alcohol and become more of a bar/lounge.
  • SA on 10/29 Sez: I totally disagree with the post by JJ Walker. I am a black woman living in the neighborhood and I am a regular at this place with my dog. I find the other customers very welcoming and feel a great sense of community at the coffeeshop. BTW, the food is awesome.
  • JJ Walker on 10/28 Sez: This place is full of pretentious, white, phony, pseudo-esoteric snobs - feel good gentrifites parading their dogs around in custom clothing while the poor African-Americans a half a block away are scrapping together money for a meal. If you don’t feel welcome here then you don’t “get it” – which is part of post-modernists idiocracy. Be happy that you don’t get it – it means you have a mind of your own.
  • LuLu on 10/28 Sez: I agree that agreesive dogs with "issues" should not be allowed in the park unfortuntely its the manager who has issues at this establishment not the dogs.
  • Stuart on 10/25 Sez: This is a great place and a welcome addition to the Reynoldstown neighborhood. It's got great coffee ( not overroasted),excellent cupcakes, tasty food offerings, a friendly staff and lots of doglovers. I like the fact that the owners here are very very concerned with the safety of all of the patrons...whether 2 legged for four legged. While I can understand the frustration with the "no pits" rule, I'm just fine with it. I'd rather have the folks here stay in business for a long time because they were slightly more cautious ranther than have them go under because of some liability case regarding a breed with known "issues". I don't want pits around me or my children....Thanks to the owner for keeping things safe and fun.
  • Leigh Ann on 10/22 Sez: DO NOT BRING YOUR DOG HERE! THEY DISCRIMINATE! We have the sweetest dog in the world. We have had her since she was a puppy. She loves people, other dogs, hugs and kisses, and is the biggest baby! She even goes to daycare 2/week and they love her there. We thought it would be a good idea to visit this establishment so that our dog could play with the other dogs while we enjoyed a coffee. The manager, however, quickly, approached us after our arrival insisting that our dog would "10 out of 10 times bite another dog if that dog tried to smell his butt". Our dog is a pit/lab mix. But because she has pit in her, the manager asked us to leave and then preceded to give us "the facts about pit bulls". Many of the other patrons were also appalled at this manager's actions seeing that CoCo, our doggie, was well-mannered, sweet, playful and sitting there nicely where this manager tried to explain to everyone how dangerous my dog was, even asking if it had been beaten as a puppy. My dog was not raised by Michale Vick, it was raised by a houseful of loving women since it was a few weeks old. I understand posting a sign that "agressive dogs should not play in the park" but to specifically discrimiate against pits and pit mixes just because of the name is ridicolous and ignorant. Ive said my peace. Anyone who has a dog that isnt a poodle might want to have a plan B when visting this cafe as they too might be asked to leave. Ive said my peace. Thank you for listening.
