Vegan Street Tacos–Jackfruit Carnitas Recipe

*Makes 8 tacos
2 cans of Jackfruit in Water (NOT syrup)
2 tsps Seasoned Salt
2 tsps Chili Powder
1 tsp Paprika
1 tsp Smoked Parika
1 tsp cumin
1 tsp oregano
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp onion powder

Heat jackfruit in a skillet on medium heat for 8- 10 min with 2 Tbsp of coconut oil. Once the jackfruit has softened, add the spices and mix together. Continue to heat jackfruit for another 10-15 minutes, or until the chunks begin to fall apart. Many of the chunks will pull apart on their own, but if you want, you can use a fork to speed up the process. Once the jackfruit is tender enough to pull apart, yet crispy on the edges, make into tacos and top with your favorite fixings!

  1. Wow. That looks delicious! Can any explain to me the taste of jackfruit, without all the seasoning and stuff. Also, does it natural resemble chicken like that? I’m 7 Days in on my plant-based diet. Thanks.
